Rebuilt 2.8 liter Ford Cologne V6 engine, 2 Barrel carb, probably around 120-130hp, TONS of smooth torque, mated to the original MG 4 speed gearbox with perfect working overdrive in 3rd and 4th gears.....offering 6 forward gear ratios (and remember, this MG trans and back axle was designed to handle a 150hp factory installed six cylinder engine as used in the MGC). It all works perfectly, not only rapid acceleration but incredible flexibility. Pulling down to a slow corner in 3rd or 4th gear, accelerates nicely WITHOUT downshifting. To the average MG driver, this is a breathtaking experience.

And yes, this car has undergone a comprehensive, professional chrome bumper conversion, all new bumpers, hardware, (Mk I) grille, sheet metal, lights, etc. Fitted with new springs, thick front AND rear sway bars. And lowered to pre 1975 ride height.

New BRG paint, beautiful tan interior, dash dyed in a matching tan and partially covered with a new wood dashboard, new wood steering wheel, nicely detailed engine bay, painted and detailed door jambs and trunk, brand new convertible top, a very good original tonneau, and.......nicely mounted oversize radiator with thermostatic controlled electric cooling fan, power assist disc brakes, Minilite style alloy wheels (we can easily convert this car to wire wheels and offer painted or chrome wire wheels), new Toyo 195/70R14 radials, modern stereo/CD with a big amp and top quality speakers.

In many ways, in interesting alternative to a contemporary sports car.....a powerful `modern` V6 engine, six forward gear ratios, power disc brakes, 6` wide light alloy wheels, and all packaged in an excellent rust free, professionally prepared package. And, like most any MG....a lot of fun, reliable and easy to repair and service, and with the enjoyment of driving a near fifty year old classic sports car.

Been driving the car, lately, and much confess there is a lot of logic in replacing the original 4 cylinder engine for a torquey, powerful V6. No adverse affect on steering or handling, just smooth acceleration. ....
