Just finished.....'awaken' after a 20+ year sleep in secured storage.
Excellent body with very nice BRG paint (was a bit faded, some light wet sanding and buffing and now...photos show the results....a mirror finish), as perfect as can be imagined underneath, excellent light tan interior (appears to be original), excellent engine (165 psi compression in every cylinder, zero smoke, 75 psi oil pressure when hot), perfect working 4 speed transmission with overdrive. Weber carb, tubular headers, runs and drives wonderfully
A complete professional chrome bumper conversion, eliminated the side lights such that the exterior looks exactly like the best looking 1963-1968 cars, new Mk I grille, new bumpers, lowered to pre 1975 ride height, new front springs and bushings, converted to wire wheels with new splined hubs new wheel bearings, and all new hardware, new radials, new chrome knock offs.
New convertible top, boot cover, redone brake hydraulics, new fuel pump, electronic ignition, thermostatically controlled radiator fans, new wood dash, new wood steering wheel, new stereo/CD, new 3 pt belts, this car really offers the best of the early cars (more power, far better esthetics) and the best of the later cars....thoroughly rust proofed, front and rear sway bars, power assist disc brakes, better electrics, better cooling system, smoother engine, better and stronger gearbox and back axle, bigger gauges, even a (working) clock.
These cars, we prepare, offer a lot as an alternative to a contemporary car. Not that there is much variety in a small modern sports car. But great handling, soft ride, ample performance, simple maintenance, easy repairs, and real classic style. A wonderful combination.
