We have been servicing this car for years....a beautiful, rust free example.
Repainted in 2014, exterior finish is excellent and (in my opinion) a really striking color. Seats, carpets, and interior panels replaced, new top, nicely detailed engine bay and trunk compartment, in many ways presents itself close to 'as new.'
Mechanically excellent, we replaced the clutch a coulke of years ago, new rotors, new muffler, checked compression (135-140 psi in every cylinder), and upgraded with modern electronic ignition, a side draft 45 DCOE Weber carb, improved manifolds, desmogged, AND the result is incredible. While these late model MGBs were rated a a mere 62.5hp, this car flies. Feels as fast as the earliest 98 hp Bs. BUT with superior ride, steering, and a far higher degree of reliability.
What would I do IF I chose to keep this car> I would improve the esthetics by painting the bumpers body color, lower the ride height to pre 1975 levels, and maybe convert to wire wheels. Al things we can offer.
More? We can add a/c and a powerful supplemental heater, do a complete professional chrome bumper conversion, even install a modern 5 speed transmission. These are useful, fun, easy to service classics offering contemporary all year 'round use.
And this is an unusually good example.
