Being finished: excellent body, being repainted in quality base coat/clear coat BRG acrylic, to be hand wet sanded and buffed, excellent chrome, wire wheels.
Excellent engine with very few miles since being rebuilt, 155-160 psi compression in every cylinder, 80 psi oil pressure when warm, no smoke, new 32/36 DGV Weber carb with electric choke, 4 speed all synchromesh transmission with perfect working overdrive on 3rd and 4th gears. Mostly new brakes, fairly new radiator, oil cooler, excellent wiring, all working gauges, excellent tan interior, wood dashboard, digital stereo.
1974 is one of the best years for a BGT (1975 was the last year they were imported....and with rubber bumpers), nice dash with face level air vents and a proper glove box. And the two most desirable factory options are wire wheels and overdrive, both of which this car has. We can add air conditioning and a full fabric sunroof and even a powerful supplemental heater. All of which can make this car a reasonable alternative to a contemporary car. Exactly has I have enjoyed with my own 1974 BGT, sunroof makes warm weather pleasant and the high output heater makes the car very usable in cold weather.
When you consider the expense of this car's British competitors, Jaguar E Type and Aston Martin DB4,6,7, the BGT makes a lot of sense. Stylish, reliable, easy to service, and the overdrive (5th gear) makes for quiet, refined highway cruising.
